M1K3 for Teams
Short answer: M1K3 for Teams is M1K3 for an organisation — the same on-device brains, an institutional memory, and a persona tuned to your people, running on Apple Silicon hardware you own, on your own network, under your own domain. An administrator locks the personal app's opt-in Private Cloud Compute switch off fleet-wide, so nothing leaves your building. Round Tower does not host it, cannot see it, and receives no telemetry from it. It is for the places where the data cannot leave — schools, clinics, firms, public bodies — and it is sold as a small number of fixed-scope design-partner pilots, not as a cloud subscription.
What you get
- A brain on your premises. A Mac mini or Mac Studio class machine serves a local brain to the people on your network. The devices they already use — Macs, iPhones, iPads — pair to it the way Brain at Home already pairs a phone to a Mac: discovery on the LAN, a one-time QR pairing, encrypted transport. No account, no cloud relay.
- An institutional memory. Your handbooks, policies, procedures, and the answers people keep asking each other, indexed once on your hardware and searchable by everyone you allow — with the same consent primitives the personal app has (what it knows stays inspectable and revocable).
- A persona tuned to you. M1K3 introduces itself by your name, speaks in your register, and knows your context. The behaviour lives in a prompt and an eval set you can read, not in a fine-tune you cannot.
- Brains chosen for your work. Every brain M1K3 ships is pinned to a verified revision and scored on a public harness (see the scoreboard). A Teams deployment can carry a brain selected or tuned for your domain, scored the same way before your people rely on it.
- Someone to call. A named person, a fixed scope, and a written report at the end of the pilot that includes what did not work.
What it is not
- Not a hosted service. There is no m1k3.app tenant, no data centre Round Tower runs for you. If it is not on your hardware, it is not M1K3 for Teams — and by policy, it can stay that way: administrators lock the personal app's opt-in Private Cloud Compute switch off fleet-wide.
- Not a way to get your data. No telemetry, no usage analytics, no phone-home. The personal app's privacy page is a checklist you can run; the Teams deployment passes the same checklist on your network.
- Not a replacement for the free app. M1K3 stays free for humans, forever, and internal use inside an organisation is a permitted purpose of its licence. Teams is for what one Mac cannot do on its own — many devices, one shared memory, one tuned persona — and for organisations that want a contract behind it.
Where it stands today
Plainly: the personal app ships now, including the one-Mac-to-your-devices serving that Teams grows from (Brain at Home, in the app today, off by default). The shared institutional memory, the administration surface, and identity for many people are being built with design partners rather than ahead of them — a pilot is how that gets built around a real organisation's needs instead of an imagined one. If you would rather wait until it is finished, that is a fair answer, and the free app is not going anywhere.
How a pilot works
- A conversation. What your people keep needing, where the data lives, what must never leave the building, and which Macs you have. Half an hour.
- A fixed scope, a fixed price. One site, your hardware, your knowledge, a few weeks. Agreed up front in writing, so there is nothing to discover later.
- The deployment. The brain server on your machine, your documents indexed on it, your persona and eval set written with you, your devices paired.
- The report. What it answered well, what it got wrong, what it cost in hardware and time, and whether it earned a place — in writing, and honest.

Does anything leave our network?
No. M1K3 for Teams runs on your organisation's own Apple Silicon hardware, on your own network, under your own domain. Inference, voice, embeddings, retrieval, and storage stay on machines you own. Round Tower does not host it, does not receive telemetry from it, and cannot see what it knows. The personal app's opt-in Private Cloud Compute switch — the one control that can send a single message to Apple's cloud — can be locked off by policy for your whole deployment, so the only network crossings left are the ones the app already documents: a one-time model download you approve, and a web-search tool an administrator can switch off too.
Can we just use the free app inside our organisation instead?
Yes. Internal use is a Permitted Purpose under M1K3's licence (FSL-1.1-ALv2), at no charge, on as many Macs as you like — each one on its own. M1K3 for Teams is for what a single Mac cannot do: a shared brain served to many devices over your network, an institutional memory your people can all draw on, a persona tuned to your organisation, and someone to call. It is also the licence for offering M1K3 to others, which the free licence withholds.
